Class: Paladin
Occupation: Knight of Arkan, assigned to Beran’s Claim under Sir Peitra Moran.
Family: Married to Ilyana with two kids, Bethany and Ben.

Appearance: 5’ 9”, short brown hair, neatly kept. Usually seen with a short neat beard and mustache. He keeps himself fit and has a youthful look.
Personality: Walter is a serious man totally dedicated to the cause. He’s pragmatic, strategic, and disciplined, yet still the kind of man you can find at the bar enjoying good beer, a good bard, and a good chat among friends. Unlike some in his Order, Sir Walter keeps an open mind and is flexible. He judges people by what is on the inside, not the outside, and will give anyone a chance.
Background: Sir Walter Chivan was born in the Catar City and orphaned. He does not know who his parents are but suspects his father was a nobleman and he was a bastard. While still a boy Sir Walter showed incredible bravery protecting a beggar from a group of three young men, getting beat badly until Sir Peitra Moran stepped in and scared them off. Impressed by the youth’s bravery, he took him in as a squire. Eventually he sponsored and later inducted him into the Knights of Arkan. Eventually Sir Walter would become a knight himself, strictly adhering to the religions tenets of Arkan, including his duty to protect the innocent. He remained as Peitra’s second when Peitra was made High Priest of Arkan for Beran’s Claim.
Sir Walter’s life changed forever when a group of adventurers came to Beran’s Claim and answered the call to rid the town of bandits and an unknown threat below ground. In the course of their actions the adventurers discovered a vampiric presence in town, one that Sir Walter himself had suspected and was already tracking down. Together they ventured into a secret temple to the vampire goddess Xarvissa beneath the Temple House next to the Temple of Arkan where Sir Walter was forced to confront his former mentor, Peitra Moran, who was now a vampire whose allegiance was now to a different god, and his cunning Mistress. Sir Walter and the adventurers fought and defeated the fallen knight, but that was not the end.
Sir Walter took a sample of the blood of the goddess Xarvissa from the temple and through a powerful and dangerous ritual known as the Rite of the Holy Crucible, which he performed alongside the Honored Mother Mirielle at the Temple of Arkan, he managed to purify the blood into a new substance that the world had never seen before: The Dawnblood of Arkan. Just as the blood of Xarvissa could corrupt and empower items with dark and evil energy, it is presumed that the Dawnblood of Arkan can purify and remake items bathed with the light of Arkan. Only time will tell.
Following the ritual Sir Walter teamed up with the same adventurers and laid siege to the ruins of Vandrex Tower in the woods east of Beran’s Claim off the road to Catar City. They fought their way through several floors of monsters to reach the inner sanctum of Nissafar herself, a master vampire and ruler of the vampires in and around Beran’s Claim. He fought bravely but before his party could kill her Nissafar escaped. Sir Walter works tirelessly with Mirielle and the adventurers to discover Nissafar’s whereabouts and bring an end to vampiric activities in the area once and for all.
