Psion Class
A sneak peak at Tarron’s Psion Class
Psions in the World of Tarron have a rich history. It all began in the distant past when a race of tall humans, the Kalathi, came to this world from another. They enslaved the younger races (elves, dwarves, humans, etc.) and built vast kingdoms across the land based on their psionic technology. In time these kingdoms warred with one another until only two were left, the Karakin, and the Tirani. Each led their enslaved races into battle alongside their warriors and terrible psionic weapons and after a final climactic battle, destroyed themselves. The now freed races picked up the pieces of their lives and developed their civilizations that would carry forward to this day. Psions faded into legend, but some carried the memory, and the power into current times in secret. The Tiranim, descendants of the humans enslaved by the Tirani, have become an organization of psion hunters. Few psions still exist, practicing their art in secret, but their power is growing and so are those that wield it. Rumors are that the Kalathi are planning a return to Tarron in the not too distant future to reclaim what they lost.
The psion class can be experienced in the soon to be published one-shot, Desolation of Karak-Tor. The playable class is not included with this one-shot, but the main antagonist can provide a taste of what is to come!
Keep an eye out for additional resources that we plan to publish in the future that will provide a fully playable psion class. It is currently in testing.
A fan of the Psion class of the past, we have re-imagined it, taking what we liked about the older versions and melding them with 5E mechanics.
The class uses mana as a separate resource and each ‘power’ requires a certain amount to use, and most can be up-scaled. Mana regenerates at increasing amounts as the character levels. There are nine power levels mimicking the structure of spell levels. No components are required.
The act of using a power is known as Manifesting, as opposed to Spellcasting.
The class also has a full compliment of subclasses, known as Disciplines. Here are a handful of them:
Clairsentient - Clairsentients expand perception beyond ordinary senses, glimpsing possible futures, hidden places, and lingering impressions from the past. They excel as scouts, guides, and battlefield prophets who can anticipate danger before it arrives.
Metapsion - Metapsions master psionics at the structural level, refining their manifestations to become stronger, more efficient, or harder to disrupt. Rather than focusing on one kind of power, they manipulate the rules of psionic power itself.
Psychokinetic - Psychokinetics weaponize pure will, moving matter, hurling enemies, shaping kinetic force, and bending the battlefield around them. They are among the most visibly destructive psions, combining telekinetic control with raw combat power.
Relativist - Relativists master time itself, resisting temporal effects, shielding allies with warped causality, and drawing alternate versions of themselves from nearby timelines. At higher levels, they can weaponize possibility and step outside linear time.
