Engineer Class

A sneak peak at Tarron’s Engineer Class

An old, stained blueprint of a futuristic suit of armor with detailed mechanical components, surrounded by drafting tools on a wooden table.

Every engineer begins as a Tinkerer, able to repair, jury-rig, detect hidden mechanisms, set traps, and turn mundane materials into practical tools. As they advance, engineers choose additional specializations that shape their style of invention. Alchemists weaponize flasks, bombs, coatings, and strange reagents. Enchanters unlock the secrets of magical items, spellcraft, and arcane craftsmanship. Gunners master black powder, firearms, specialized ammunition, and long-range precision. Siegemasters bring war machines and power armor to the battlefield. Technomancers bind machinery and arcane energy into powerful clockwork companions.

The true beauty of the engineer is that these paths are not isolated boxes. Engineers can combine multiple specializations over time, allowing their inventions to complement one another in unexpected ways. A gunner might lace ammunition with alchemical effects, an enchanter might empower siege armor, or a technomancer might integrate heavier weapons into a clockwork ally. The result is a class that rewards creativity, planning, and a little bit of dangerous ambition.

For players who love martial characters but want more tools, choices, and invention at the table, the engineer offers a different kind of hero: not a chosen champion, not a pure spellcaster, and not merely a soldier, but a maker of impossible solutions. Whether building firearms, brewing volatile compounds, enchanting gear, commanding constructs, or designing wonders that reshape the world, the engineer proves that imagination can be every bit as deadly as a blade.

Engineers are warriors of invention: battlefield problem-solvers who modify, enhance, and weaponize the world around them. They are not fragile scholars hiding behind their creations—they are armored combatants who can hold the line with spear, shield, blade, firearm, or reinforced gear. Whether standing shoulder to shoulder with fighters on the front line or striking from range with carefully crafted weapons, engineers bring steel, powder, tools, and intellect to every fight.

An engineer blends the toughness of a fighter, the clever hands of a rogue, and the dangerous curiosity of a scholar who has learned the secrets of black powder. They can exploit weaknesses in enemy defenses, reinforce armor, improvise weapons and traps, command clockwork servants, and eventually design inventions large enough to change battlefields, cities, or entire kingdoms. Their greatest strength is versatility: an engineer can protect allies, endure punishment, strike hard, and adapt when the battle turns against them.

Engineers are intelligent warriors. Strength and Constitution keep them alive in the chaos of battle, but Intelligence drives their craft, inventions, tactics, and specialized creations. A good engineer does not merely swing a weapon; they study the enemy, adapt their gear, and turn scraps, gears, reagents, or battlefield debris into advantage. The class is built around the fantasy of someone who can survive a dungeon, build the bridge out, arm the party, and then sketch the plans for an airship over dinner.
