Rogue Archetype:
The Soulreaper
The Soulreaper is a sinister rogue archetype built around hunting worthy prey, marking them for death, and harvesting fragments of their souls. Rather than simply borrowing power from the dead, the Soulreaper actively takes it. Each stolen fragment becomes fuel for brutal necrotic strikes, shadow-born movement, and a desperate refusal to die when a killing blow lands.
As the Soulreaper grows stronger, those fragments can be preserved as lasting soul imprints. A warrior’s soul might grant martial skill, a hunter’s sharpened senses, or an arcane soul a fragment of supernatural knowledge. These imprints let the rogue reshape themselves through the strengths of their victims, creating a character whose abilities reflect the souls they have claimed.
At higher levels, the Soulreaper can dissolve into living shadow, move silently through creatures and solid barriers, and strike before slipping back into darkness. Their deadliest rites allow them to devour a soul for renewed strength or bind a diminished fragment into a permanent Soulbound Thrall, choosing a defender, hunter, or adept to serve at their side.
Even death may not end a master Soulreaper. If slain near their thrall, they can abandon their own corpse and possess the servant’s body, buying one final chance to return to life. The result is a rogue subclass focused on assassination, stolen power, supernatural infiltration, and deeply unsettling control over the souls of the fallen.
